Who is Fluentto for? (and who it is not for)
Fluentto is a mobile app for memorizing question : answer pairs through active recall: you see a prompt and type your answer, instead of picking from options or swiping “knew it.” It is not a full language course or a textbook replacement—a tool for your material: words, terms, dates, formulas, facts.
If you care about producing the answer yourself, not only recognizing it among options, the app will likely match how you already study. If you mainly want streaks, leaderboards, or fast swipe-only flashcards, another format may suit you better—and that is fine.

Who it probably is not for
No judgment—different goals, different tools.
- Swipe-only “knew / didn’t know” without typing the full answer—you train recognition; Fluentto requires reproduction.
- Streaks, leaderboards, and “gamey” progress for retention—calm interface, no required gamification.
- A ready-made course without building a list—you bring or receive pairs; the app runs the session.
- Passive consumption only (video, podcast, lecture)—here you need active recall and typing.

How this differs from “just flashcards”
Flashcards are a format. The method is how you use them.
Weak: flip to the answer and mark “know” without recalling. Strong: pause, remember, type or say, check, repeat mistakes. More in active recall.
Fluentto is built for the strong loop:
- answers checked by typed text, not multiple choice;
- on mistake, not the full answer at once—the next correct character as a hint; optional full-phrase hint;
- learned when entered without errors that trigger character hints; attempt count shown;
- clear “learned” resets attempts and returns the item (useful when right but not on the first try).
